What is the most underrated Canadian immigration program?

I've got my PR from BC PNP, a lot of my friends didn't even hear about it! I was lucky I had people who knew about it.

Aurore Yeah, same with me. It's still surprising that not a lot of people know about how the program works.
I've met people form Australia and the UK who are working here for more than a year and don't know the provincial program exists. They just think they have to go through Express Entry. It's weird!

I don't know what you mean exactly by underrated.
But if you mean what I think you mean then I have to say the TR to PR program.
That's the program I applied for and to this day I haven't seen anything better.

NikitaS I think they're a bit harder to apply for now days, I was lucky few years back! But yeah, we should spread the word about PNP's existence! 😁

I've also recently came across the lesser known skill trade programs. I know that Canada only accepts a limited number of people through these programs but the fact that the requirements are generally much lower than more conventional programs (e.g. Express Entry) makes them a pretty good choice if you qualify in my oppinion.

Also, I've been thinking about refugees programs lately. Does that count as an immigration program?

Linden I wouldn't count the Refugee Protection as an immigration program. It's basically a pathway for people who are persecuted in their countries to live in Canada. So it's not like any other immigration program in a sense that it exists to fill a need in the Canadian labour or economy.

Does the Start-up visa program fit your description of "underrated"?
I've found that you don't need much for this application and all you need is an idea. It's a PR application so you'll get your workpermit straight in the process.

NikitaS I think the Start-up Visa is for a select few. Only the people who have a good business or a new idea can apply. Plus the number of applicants that go through that program are very low compared to other options like express entry.

I recently heard of this Home Support Worker program that not many know about. The great thing about it is you apply for your Work Permit and PR at the same time (with one application) and you just have to work in this position for 2 years and afterwards you'll get your PR.

LaurenAB I've never heard of this program. I can imagine it could be great way for someone in the Healthcare and Home Support industry to get their PR in Canada. Thanks for mentioning it.
