Study permit to open work permit

Hi,
If a student who has a study permit, quits her education and wants to apply for open work permit Based on her husband's study permit, what will be her status... In IRCC website, if you choose study permit then there will be no eligibility for open work permit.

There is one thing you must know. The moment you quit your education your study permit status will no longer be valid. So the best practice is to apply for a work permit first and then stop studying. Usually universities will inform IRCC regarding international students that no longer study there.

Linden you know, if I want to apply for open work permit, first of all it asks me: what is you current status, if I say student then It does not give me the option of applying for open work permit. So what should I do?

To change your study permit to a work permit based on your spouse's study permit status in Canada, you must follow these steps:

Your spouse must be a full-time student at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
Your spouse must have a valid study permit and be in good academic standing at their DLI.
You must apply for an open work permit through the Government of Canada's online immigration application system (IRCC).
During the application process, you will need to provide proof of your relationship to your spouse, including marriage certificates, and evidence of your spouse's study permit and enrolment in a DLI.
You will also need to provide biometrics (if you haven't before), pay the required fees, and pass security and criminal background checks.
Once your application is approved, you will receive a work permit that allows you to work in Canada for the same length of time as your spouse's study permit.

Mitra2440 That's a very good question. I would like to know the answer to this aswell. If anyone knows please let us know.

The only way you can apply for it online is if you answer yes to the question of "Do you have a written job offer?".
Then it allows you to go forward with the job offer application.

Then when you're uploading your documents you have to mention that you are a spouse of a student currently studying in Canada and would like to change your status from having a study permit to an open work permit since you longer plan to continue studying.

This is a problem with the IRCC online submission. It does not take all the different situations into account. What you should know is that in the end an officer would review the document and will make the decision. So always include a detailed cover letter explaining what you intend to do and the reasoning behind it if applicable.
