Farhad-n Sometime they request it. In the old days there used to be an interview that you would have to go in person so you had to be in Canada.
Now, as far as I know the whole Canadian citizenship process doesn't involve any direct interaction with the officer except for the oath ceremony. That being said, they still might request updates such as a scan of your passport with all the stamps in it, or they even could request it physically for them to review as part of the process. My suggestion is to never lie about your location especially when it's for a citizenship application.
