How recent should the language test be for Citizenship application?

Hi everyone,
I took an IELTS test over 5 years ago and now I plan on applying for my citizenship soon. My question is is there an expiry date for the language test?

I was told that typically IELTS has a two year expiry date since the exam. Does that mean I can't use my old IELTS as part of my citizenship exam?

As far as I know any language test you have taken in your life works and there are no time limits.

@Linden is right. There is no expiry date for the language test you submit for Canadian citizenship. That means you can use your old IELTS tests you used for your study permit or your PR for your citizenship application.

I have two friends that were told by their immigration consultant to get new language tests for their citizenship application.
It's funny how some of the consultants don't even know the rules themselves 🤦‍♂️

I just found out that you are allowed to use the Academic IELTS exam results for Citizenship! This blew my mind.
Cause normally you can't use academic IELTS for anything other than studying, and they won't even accept it for immigration applications even though in my opinion, it's much tougher that the General IELTS exam.

So I thought I'd share this here for the people that don't know about it 😊
